The Corporate Communications Department visited the Meth Seva Foundation at Handapanagala, to put a smile on the faces of the handicapped children for Christmas. There are 42 mentally and physically handicapped children at the foundation, some who have been left on the roads by parents. Dry rations and clothes (used and new clothes collected from the DIMO Tribe) were handed over to the Director of the foundation. The highlight of the visit was handing over of soft toys to the children as Christmas Gifts. According to the Director of the foundation, these kids have never received individual gifts for Christmas in their lives and most hadn’t even touched a teddy bear. With each teddy bear, we were able to bring a momentarily smile on their faces, and create a moment which they would not forget. The Director of the foundation went on to mention, “it is only your company (DIMO) and staff that had a golden heart for these children as you know the value of these children at Christmas time.” We would like to thank the DIMO Tribe who supported us by giving new/ used clothes. We appreciate your generosity in this humanitarian endeavor. We would also take this opportunity to thank our Chairman and CEO for the support given.
We live in a world where we relentlessly pursue wealth and material gains. These 42 children remind us that we should focus more and appreciate what we have rather than what we don’t have.
