DIMO, in partnership with the Tata Group and ChildFund, has supported the ‘Hope in a Backpack’ initiative, providing essential educational supplies to schoolchildren affected by Cyclone Ditwah and subsequent floods in Sri Lanka. Launched at Taj Samudra, Colombo, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to supporting communities and ensuring educational continuity during times of crisis.
As part of DIMO’s Social and Community Pillar under ‘Lassana Hetak’, the initiative brought together volunteers from Tata and DIMO to pack and distribute essential school supplies. The programme reached over 27,000 students across Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla and Kegalle, helping affected children return to school with renewed confidence and hope.
