DIMO made a difference in the life of Lance Corporal Charith Kulathilake on 18th of May 2013, when Mr and Mrs Ranjith Pandithage handed over the keys to the newly completed house to him and his family at Wellaragama, Mihintale. This was based on a promise made to Lance Corporal Charith Kulathilake by Mr. Pandithage when he met him at the Abhimansala Army Camp one year back. The new house has a living room, four bed rooms, a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom. Mr and Mrs Ranjith Pandithage, Colonel Deepal Pusella (Wijayabahu Infantry Regiment), Lt Colonel Kanishka Bandara (Commandant Abhimansala) and Mr. Hemal Ratnayake (DIMO Anuradhapura Branch Manager) were present at this memorable occasion.
Lance Corporal Charith Kulathilake got caught to an electric landmine during the humanitarian operations in 2008 at Kilali and lost sight of both eyes and lost his right hand. Lance Corporal Charith Kulathilake went on to get married in 2012 and is a father now.
