On 28 March, DIMO Nature Club members participated in a turtle patrol at Wellawatta Beach in collaboration with TACHUP (Turtle & Coastal Health United Program). As the turtle nesting season was coming to an end, members joined the overnight patrol from Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morning. Representatives from TACHUP shared valuable insights into turtle conservation methods and the importance of protecting nesting sites and marine wildlife along the coastal stretch.

During the patrol, DIMO Nature Club volunteers had the opportunity to assist in releasing hatchlings from two nests and witnessed an Olive Ridley Turtle laying eggs, creating a memorable and meaningful conservation experience. The field visit provided members with first-hand exposure to marine wildlife conservation while strengthening their understanding of responsible waste management and its impact on protecting turtles and coastal ecosystems.
