Strengthening Engineering Excellence: Sri Lankan Army Officers Benchmark ISO-Certified Aftersales Operations at DIMO

Fourteen officers, including senior personnel from the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Division of the Sri Lankan Army Base Workshop in Colombo, recently visited the Mercedes-Benz Premium Aftersales Workshop operated by DIMO, as part of a benchmarking initiative focused on international ISO standards and structured workshop operations.

The visit commenced with an induction session outlining DIMO’s Aftersales operations and its globally aligned ISO framework. Officers were provided with a comprehensive overview of ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems), with emphasis on their practical integration into daily workshop processes.

Participants were guided through the complete customer journey—from vehicle reception to final delivery—highlighting robust process controls, quality assurance mechanisms, and customer experience management practices. The session also showcased DIMO’s Environmental Management System (EMS) dashboard, illustrating systematic monitoring of environmental performance and continuous compliance improvement.

The workshop tour offered hands-on exposure to international best practices, including 5S workplace organisation, Yellow Tag systems, unit repair processes, and dedicated body repair and detailing sections, with a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency, and quality consistency. In addition, Daimler principal guidelines were shared to support the development and continual enhancement of ISO-compliant workshop standards.

This professional engagement underscores DIMO’s unwavering commitment to engineering excellence, quality, safety, and sustainability, while fostering meaningful collaboration between industry leaders and defence engineering professionals.
