DIMO Powers Jaffna Trade Fair 2014

The Jaffna International Trade Fair 2014 was held at the Durayappah Stadium Grounds, Jaffna from 17th to 19th January. This was held for the 5th consecutive year and DIMO partnered the event as the Main Sponsor, as we have done from the inception. The opening ceremony was held at the Jaffna Public Library on the 17th at 9.30am. Hon Douglas Devananda (Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development), Consul General of India in Jaffna – Mr. V. Mahalingam, Her Worship Yogeswaray Patgunarajah (Jaffna Mayor), Mr K Poornachandran (Chairman – Chamber of Commerce, Yarlpanam) and many other key government officials took part at the opening ceremony. DIMO was represented by Mr Gahanath Pandithage and Mr Anura Wijesinghe at the opening ceremony.

This exhibition is organized with the association of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam, Consul General of India in Jaffna, and supported by Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Jaffna Municipal Council and Ceylon Institute of Builders. The event sponsors were – Main Sponsor (DIMO), Education Sponsor (British Council), Official Banker (BOC), Official Insurance Partner (SLIC) and Print Media Sponsor (Lakehouse Group). There were more than 200 organizations displaying more than 300 stalls at the exhibition. These included companies from Colombo, SME businesses from North, Local and International Education Service Providers and Indian businesses.

DIMO had the largest outdoor stall and the largest indoor stall at the exhibition. The outdoor stall displayed the TATA Commercial Vehicles Range, TATA Passenger Vehicles Range, selected Mercedes-Benz Vehicles and Mahindra Tractors. The indoor stall had displays from Bosch and SKIL Power Tools, WD-40, fischer fixing solutions, Bosch Service, Adhisathkara, Bosch Automotive Components, Michelin Kumho MRF Tyres, Osram and DIMO GLS bulb, Original Equipment Components, KSB Pumps, Material Handling Equipment, and DATS together with HR. A special vehicle key handing over ceremony was organized at the DIMO TATA Commercial Vehicles Stall where several recipients received their keys from Hon. Douglas Devananda. At the outdoor stall, cutouts and displays were arranged by TATA Genuine Parts and TATA Commercial Service. The TATA Commercial and Passenger Vehicle range display included the latest models including the TATA Prima, TATA Ultra and the 2014 TATA Nano. Mercedes-Benz displayed a Pre-owned Car, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van and the Mercedes-Benz MotorHome at the exhibition. A Press conference was arranged earlier with the regional (Jaffna) Media representatives on 15th January 2014, to promote the event. Mr Ravinesh Senaratne represented DIMO at the press conference. DIMO will be opening their fully fledged New Branch and Workshop at Jaffna within the next few months.

Bosch Center is GOLD Certified by LEED

Bosch Center received the prestigious GOLD Certification based on the LEED Green Building Rating System, established by the US Green Building Council. According to the local representatives, this maybe the first instance where an automobile related service facility has got  recognized with a GOLD certification in the entire world.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED is intended to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently. Proposals to modify the LEED standards are offered and publicly reviewed by the USGBC’s almost-20,000 member organizations. Started in 1998, LEED standards have been applied to more than 7,000 projects in the United States and 30 countries.
