State Minister of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovation Dr. Seetha Arambepola visited DIMO Academy for Technical Skills (DATS) in Weliweriya recently. The main objective of this visit was to find ways and means of expanding and modernizing vocational training and education in Sri Lanka through public-private partnerships.
The Minister had a discussion with DIMO officials on several potential areas of collaboration in developing country’s vocational training sector. The minister expressed the government’s interest in supporting expansion of DATS activities to strengthen the Sri Lankan youth with correct skills through vocational training. Representing DIMO management, Mr. Gahanath Pandithage participated at the event. DATS officials and other ministry officers also participated at the occasion.
