The National Agribusiness Council, an affiliate of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organized the 14th Edition of the National Farmer Awards on 11th August, 2018 at the BMICH in concurrence with the ProPack/ProFood and Ag-Biz Mega Exhibition. The Farmer Awards ceremony is aimed at recognizing the performance and contribution made by the farming communities of all 25 districts in Sri Lanka. Moreover, it is a proud experience that the awards ceremonies held in the past inspired and stimulated the young generation to enter into agribusiness activities ensuring a sustainable growth of the country through agriculture development. Recognizing farmers at the National Farmer Awards Ceremony is an annual event jointly organized by the National Agribusiness Council (NAC) and the Ministry of Agriculture. The NAC is the apex body for agribusiness in Sri Lanka with 13 agri related associations and 31 corporate members covering all sub-sectors of the national agribusiness chain. The Farmer Awards ceremony is presided by the Honorable Minister of Agriculture Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera and the Honorable Deputy Minister Mr. Angajan Ramanadan and attended by prominent personalities, professionals and entrepreneurs in the agri-sector and well over 300 farmer community members island wide.
As on the past occasions, DIMO Agriculture’s partnership was represented visually in all the event promotional activities; Inclusion of DIMO Agri logo and prize items in all Applications and National Farmer Awards Posters in the Sinhala & Tamil print copies of which have been distributed to 599 Govi Jana Seva Centers in all 25 districts & Provincial Agricultural Departments as well as in all print media advertisements and promotional materials, promotion of sponsorships in the NAC website, promotional activities at the event venue – BMICH and promotion in the event souvenir.
DIMO Agri Machinery Division as a proud stakeholder of Sri Lankan Agriculture sector has enhanced the productivity and efficiency of the sector for more than two decades. By Identifying our corporate social responsibility to recognize and award the farming communities, the department has continued the support for this event by offering a ‘D-TEC’ Mini tiller as the third prize of the award ceremony. Mr. Gihan Fernando (General Manager – Agri Machinery Division) and Mr. Dinuk Perera participated at the event representing DIMO Agri Machinery division.
