Kinniya Bridge

At 396.3m long and 10m wide, Kinniya Bridge is Sri Lanka’s longest bridge, stretching gracefully over the scenic Kinniya Lagoon surrounded by Koddiyar Bay and Tambalagam Bay. Located on the Trincomalee Highway in the Eastern Province, it connects the towns of Kinniya and Muttur, replacing the slow and unreliable ferry service that once dominated the area.

Completed in 2009, the bridge has significantly improved tourism and travel. Kinniya Bridge is not just an important transport link, it also offers breathtaking lagoon views and an excellent viewpoint for observing local wildlife, including various bird species that thrive in the surrounding wetlands.
