About the Project

Nawaloka Hospital has earned the status of being the 'first' to offer specialized in the local healthcare circle. Established in 1985, it is Sri Lanka's first fully-fledged private hospital with an initial capacity of 100 beds. Today, the hospital has expanded its capacity to accommodate over 400 beds and 13 surgical theatres. Nawaloka was also the first hospital in Sri Lanka to introduce CT and MRI scanners for the Sri Lankan public.

As the official partner of Siemens Medical, the leading supplier of healthcare technology, DIMO was selected to provide the latest state-of-the-art MRI scanner to add to the extensive medical equipment portfolio of Nawaloka Hospital.

The Solution

Since its introduction, the Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra MRI scanner has established itself as the logical next step in the evolution of clinical MRI. The latest system installed by DIMO at Nawaloka Hospital is equipped with 3 Tesla MRI scanning technology coupled with Tim+Dot (Total imaging matrix plus Day optimizing throughput) technologies taking MR imaging in Sri Lanka to the next level. Tim’s newly designed high density coils combined with the highest channel configurations enhances speed, accuracy and flexibility while the Dot engine offers a customizable framework for patient personalization, user guidance and exam automation to help optimize every part of the MRI workflow.

The system is capable of covering the whole body up-to 205cm without repositioning the patient with its multi-element combined coil technology which is unique to Siemens. The 3 Tesla MRI is becoming the gold standard for Neuro and MSK imaging and the offered system (Skyra) with its 48 channel RF platform will undoubtedly provide the industry’s highest resolution.

DIMO along with the Siemens team managed the installation process as well as testing and commissioning to ensure a smooth and on-time delivery. An after-sales service contract of 5 years was signed with Nawaloka Hospital that covers areas of preventive and corrective maintenance.

As with all MRI Scanners, the MAGNETOM Skyra is connected to the Siemens Global Support Center. Here the machine is monitored on a continuous basis for any possible malfunction (pre-warning of device failure).

The Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra 3T MRI technology supersedes 1.5T due to the higher signal-to-noise ratio which enables much more effective and faster image rendering, resulting in faster patient throughput and higher precision and quality. With the inclusion of Tim's innovative radio-frequency (RF) system and matrix coil concept, the system represents the future of MR with even greater resolution and better image quality in less time. With DIMO at the helm, the scanner will undoubtedly deliver the superior quality and service excellence to patients aligning with DIMO Medical Solutions vision of being the number one company in providing cutting-edge healthcare technology and Nawaloka Hospitals mission of ‘Healing with Feeling’.
