DIMO carries out major overhauling for “Weligouwa” Dredging Engine
DIMO recently carried out a major overhauling project for the Weligouwa Dredging Engine (Caterpillar USA) of the Ceylon Fisheries Harbour Corporation. The project included a variety of tasks, including the removing of the engine from the vessel, lifting and rigging out, and transporting to DIMO Siyambalape Workshop. At Siyambalape, the major overhauling was carried out. The engine was then transported back to the vessel, lifted and lowered to the engine room. The engine was installed with auxiliary equipment and commissioned to provide satisfactory performance. The project was completed ahead of the promised duration to the satisfaction of the customer. The 200-ton dredger 'Weligouwa' washed ashore during the tsunami whilst it was at work at Kirinda harbor. This dredger was built in 1995.
