Deepthi in his Jeep Wrangler Co driven by Nishantha clinched “4x4 Derby 2009” in a closely contested battle up in the Hantana Hills….. Kandy on Sunday the 8th Feb ’09.
During the innaugral event held in 2007, Jeep 4x4’s clinched all three podium finishes with a clean sweep of all the trophies on offer. During this year’s event, more experienced Suresh Chathuranga (winner of Sri Lanka’s toughest 4x4 event, “4x4 Challenge 08”) had to settle for the First Runner up position driving his Range Rover and Ravindra Kumara driving a Jeep CJ as the Second Runner up positions respectively.
This event which was organised by the Four Wheel Drive Club – Sri Lanka in association with Up Country Sport Shooting Club had all the most renowned off roading competitor entries including Indika Sanjaya, Osanda Maligaspe, Saty Watson, Sam Chandrasoma, Denson Kumara, Shenal Fernando etc. along with their co-drivers.
