DIMO represented their automotive related, world’s best engineered brands at the Ceylon Motor Show 2015 which took place from 8th May to 10th May at the BMICH. This is considered as the biggest Motor Show among all other auto shows in Sri Lanka. This is the only Motor Show where all franchise owners are taking part and displaying their products. DIMO had 6 stalls at the exhibition – Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Tata Passenger, Tata Commercial, Tyres and Bosch. Mercedes-Benz introduced the all new Citan and Tata introduced the all new Zest at the Motor Show.

The Buddha Rashmi Pooja; the National Vesak Festival was held for the eighth consecutive year in commemoration of the Vesak Poya 2015. During a period of four days, the Gangaramaya Temple together with the Prime Ministerial Secretariat facilitated the festival, transforming a precinct earmarked as the ‘Vesak Zone’ for this principal Buddhist event of the annual calendar, signifying the Birth, Enlightenment and Parinibbhana of Lord Buddha. This was held from May 03rd 2015 precedence to religious observances. Thereafter, the illumination of the festival was initiated at the Seema Malaka by dignitaries led by the President following which the ‘Vesak Zone’ or the festival zone was opened to the public from seven in the evening till the early hours of the following morning. The public was able to witness a variety of exhibits from intricate designs of the lanterns, to craftsmanship of vibrant pandols, among the many displays.
DIMO donated a TATA Single Cab to the winner of the lantern competition which was held at the Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone on 6th of May 2015. The TATA Single Cab key was handed over to its proud winner Mr Prabath Buddhika Nayanajith from Katugasthota by Rev. Assaji Thero, Mr Vijitha Bandara, Mr B. M. U. D. Basnayake (Secretary to the Defense) and Inspector General of Police N. K. Illangakoon.
The Mercedes-Benz Pageant 2015May 6, 2015
Sri Lanka’s most exclusive annual family gathering – The Mercedes-Benz Pageant was held yet again at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall on 2nd May. A total of 560 stars gathered under one roof, a great achievement considering the long weekend. This year’s pageant was significant, since it marked the 25th Anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka, a club consisting of die-hard likeminded automobile enthusiasts who have an extraordinary passion towards the Three-Pointed Star.
The pageant had special activities for the whole family, especially for kids such as the kiddie’s game, bouncing castle, face painting, pizza making, fun rides and art competitions. A special photo booth was available for participants to capture the memorable moment of this year’s Pageant. Vehicle models dating from pre-war era to the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz models participated in the pageant from which winners were selected from all the categories. The latest Mercedes-Benz Citan (light van/ mini MPV) was unveiled at this year’s pageant. The Mercedes-Benz Citan provides the passengers with urban luxury coupled with renowned Mercedes-Benz safety features and ultimate performance.
The Pageant was opened to the public from 11.00 am where a large number of Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts got the opportunity to witness the ‘Masterpieces’ from Classics to latest models. Members of the Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka, the Management and members of the DIMO Tribe participated at the event.
