TMS department achieved another milestone by winning a tender to overhaul a large locomotive engine (DWM 6 Locomotive engine) at HOLCIM FACTORY in Puttalam recently. The scope includes complete overhaul of the engine, hydraulic governor & DC generator. On completion, second loco will also be offered to DIMO /TMS.

Refurbishment of Maldives Police Vessel by TMSJune 13, 2013
Recently DIMO TMS (Total Marine Solutions) successfully completed the refurbishment of Maldives Police Vessel owned by the Republic of Maldives.
Major overhauling of the below mentioned areas were carried out by the TMS (Total Marine Solutions) department.
Propulsion engines brand-2 X16V/MTU, Propulsion System including shaft seals, Engine room Auxiliaries & systems, Hull repair work, Blasting & Painting, Control and maneuvering system, Communication systems and A/C System. On completion trials were carried out and the vessel achieved the standard designs speed expected.
This project was completed successfully before the delivery schedule. TMS received an excellent positive feedback from the owners for the job carried out and the quality of workmanship and expertise. They are considering to send more vessels to DIMO during this year for refurbishment.
The completion and handing over ceremony was held on the 10th of June 2013 at the Colombo Port. The management of DIMO graced the event while Mr Ranjith Pandithage handed over the certificates for the crew for the Training they received from MTU.

DIMO recently launched TMS (Total Marine Solutions) in Sri Lanka amidst a distinguished gathering at the Ceylon Continental Hotel. TMS encompasses the entire spectrum of solutions that one can find under the marine industry – from an anode to a mast light. More than 15 leading principals participated for the launch event. Several presentations were made by these principals emphasizing their individual strengths in the marine field. Mr. Roshan Fernando, Director – DIMO Ltd and Mr. Shahzad Ghany, Product Manager – DIMO represented Total Marine Solutions from DIMO.

The event was made colorful with the performances by the dance troupes of Sri Lanka Navy along with their traditional bagpipers and musical bands. Speaking at the event Mr. Pandithage mentioned that with the boom in the economy and infrastructure development in Sri Lanka, the country stands the opportunity to attract marine vessels for repairs at a very competitive rate compared to Middle East and Singapore. The strategic location of Sri Lanka also adds to the appeal. The number of brand new ships built in 2010 was 2526, according to the Ship Builders Association of Japan – out of which 43% were built by Chinese ship yards. Through this initiative DIMO hopes to attract vessels from all over the world to Sri Lanka, and create a dominant industry in Marine Solutions.
