DIMO and Mahindra Tractors Join Forces to Support Sri Lankan Farmers during Maha Season

In recent years, Sri Lanka has been hit by economic crises that have adversely affected farmers, who are unable to cope with the economic instability. These challenges have created difficulties for farmers in the critical Maha season, which has a significant impact on cultivating during this period. To address these challenges, leading agriculture industry players DIMO and Mahindra Tractors have partnered to support local farming communities by offering free land preparation services during the crucial Maha Season. This partnership reflects their shared commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development in Sri Lanka.

DIMO and Mahindra Tractors provided much-needed support for land preparation by supplying essential machinery, such as Rotovators, Disc Ploughs, and Tine Tillers, as well as fuel required for land preparation to farmers in the Monaragala, Kilinochchi, Dambulla, and Anuradhapura areas. This initiative spanned a period of three months, during which time over 165 selected farmers in need of land preparation were assisted and supported. A total of 250 acres of land were prepared, significantly reducing the financial burden on these farmers who lack access to the necessary machinery.

This initiative has earned DIMO and Mahindra Tractors the sincere gratitude of several farming communities for their unwavering commitment to completing the project successfully, despite numerous challenges and obstacles, including unfavourable weather conditions during the Maha season. These communities have expressed heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable assistance provided to them, which has undoubtedly brought about a positive impact on their lives and livelihoods. This initiative sets a model for other industry players to follow and contributes to the continued success of Sri Lanka's farming communities.
